Fire Element Summer Yin Yoga & Gong Immersion
On Saturday June 16, we are pleased to be hosting a morning yoga class called Fire Element Summer Yin Yoga & Gong Immersion, with Christine Zimonick and Brigid Shannon from 10:30am to Noon.
During the summer months, life is at its most expansive, full manifestation. The sun is at its highest, food is abundant, and all plant life is full of vital life force. The element of summer is fire, and the energy of fire is connected to the heart and small intestine. This 1.5 hour workshop will focus on harmonizing ourselves with the energy of summer. We will begin with a Yin Practice targeting the Heart and small intestine meridians, intermingled with the healing vibrations of Tibetan sound massage bowls. We will seal our practice with a deeply relaxing and meditative Gong Bath.

When: June 16 from 10:30 am to Noon

About the Instructors
Chris has been exploring her own practice of yoga since 1995. She is certified to teach Yin Yoga and Kundalini Yoga and is a registered Sound Massage Therapist. She is a co-founder of The Sound of Yin Yoga. She also uses her expertise in these three areas to lead Yoga Nidra Meditations and perform Gong and Sound Concerts. Her work focuses on balancing the energies of the body in relationship to traumatic events, limiting thoughts and negative emotions that may be interfering with optimal well-being.
Brigid has studied a variety of yoga forms including Ashtanga, Hatha, Yin and Vinyasa as well as Vippassana Meditation. She completed her first teacher training at Moksha Yoga Center, in Chicago, in 2001. Subsequent certifications include Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, and Paulie Zink, The Heart of Yoga with Mark Whitwell, Macrobiotic Nutrition at the Kushi Institute, and “Healing with Whole Foods” with Paul Pitchford. With a focus on breath awareness and alignment, Brigid’s classes weave together her personal understanding of the transformative power of yoga, meditation, 5 element theory and food energetics.
